We are ready to answer the most frequently asked questions!

Lawn aeration is the process of perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the roots, promoting healthier grass growth. It helps reduce soil compaction, improves drainage, and enhances root development, making the lawn more resilient to drought and disease. Aeration is typically done in the spring or fall when the grass is actively growing, ensuring optimal recovery and benefits.

Lawn mowing is the routine practice of cutting grass to a desired height to maintain a healthy and attractive lawn. Regular mowing encourages thicker growth, prevents weeds, and improves overall lawn health by promoting even sunlight distribution. It’s best done frequently during the growing season, adjusting the height based on grass type and weather conditions to avoid stress on the lawn.

Lawn scarification is the process of removing thatch, moss, and organic debris from the lawn using a rake or a scarifier to improve air, water, and nutrient penetration. It helps prevent disease, encourages healthier grass growth, and promotes a thicker, more resilient lawn. Scarification is best done in spring or early autumn when the grass can recover quickly.

Top dressing is the application of a thin layer of soil, sand, or compost over a lawn to improve soil quality, enhance drainage, and promote healthy grass growth. It helps level the lawn, reduce thatch buildup, and encourage stronger root development. Top dressing is best done in early spring or autumn, often after aeration or scarification.

Overseeding is the process of spreading grass seed over an existing lawn to fill in bare spots, improve density, and enhance lawn resilience. It helps rejuvenate tired or patchy lawns, making them more resistant to weeds, disease, and drought. Overseeding is most effective in early autumn or spring when soil temperatures and moisture levels support seed germination.

How is the lawn aeration service performed?

When you schedule a lawn aeration service with Green Lads, you can expect our experts to arrive on time, fully equipped, and ready to enhance the health of your lawn.

We recommend that you or someone from your household be present to discuss your lawn’s condition with our professionals. After a quick assessment, our team will unload their equipment and begin the aeration process.

At Green Lads, we use the hollow tine aeration method, which involves perforating the soil to create small holes throughout your lawn. This allows essential elements like water, air, and nutrients to penetrate deep into the soil, promoting strong root growth. As a result, your grass will develop a healthier, lusher appearance with improved resistance to thatch buildup and weeds.

Once the aeration is complete, we can either collect and dispose of the soil plugs for you or leave them on your lawn to naturally break down and enrich the soil. If preferred, you can also allow them to dry and then mulch them using a lawn mower or rake them into the grass.

With Green Lads, your lawn gets the care it deserves—ensuring long-term vitality and resilience!
